Experimental Windows 9x Support (DosBox Turbo 2.1.7+):
Windows 98 is now stable using the following settings:
Memory: From 8 to 512MB DOS Memory. (Not tested with more than 64MB, try at your own risk!)
CPU Type: pentium (or pentium_mmx if MMX is required)
ISA PnP Emulation: ON (if using ISA PnP in Windows)
3dfx (Glide) Emulation: OFF (or ON if you need 3dfx/DirectX emulation - this is a very experimental feature that requires a very fast device)
For those of you who legally own Windows 98, I've found this prepared Win98 image to work well. Download the image, mount it using the mount command in autoexec section the accompanying dosbox.conf and use the above settings instead of manual mode.
DosBox Turbo 2.0.x Changes:
DosBox Turbo 2.0.0 is a complete re-write of the Android wrapper around the core DosBox SVN.

Some new Features of DosBox Turbo 2.0.x

Some of the new features include:
QuickMenu Settings:
New sliding QuickMenu to quickly access settings and make changes while DosBox Turbo is running. To access the QuickMenu, press the Disk Icon in the top left corner or (if you have Swipe Mode enabled in the DosBox Settings), swipe from the left margin to open the menu.

Version 2.0.0 comes with a new on-screen virtual analog joystick with visual feedback. The virtual joystick can be used in any input mode and functions as an analog joystick or as a trackpad for controlling the mouse (select-able in the DosBox settings).

Transparent (Hide-able) ActionBar in Landscape Mode:
DosBox Turbo 2.0.x has a transparent ActionBar than can be hidden in Landscape Mode by Swiping Up on the screen. You can show the action bar again, by swiping down from the top margin while in Landscape Mode. The Action Bar provides quick access to commonly used features.

  • High Quality Screen Scaling - Version 2.0.x can now use High Quality Screen Scaling without any performance degradation if you are using the optional GPU rendering mode.
  • NEON Optimizations - A new custom build system & compiler (with Profile Guided Optimizations & Graphite) were used to automatically generate ARMv5, ARMv7, ARMv7+NEON and MIPS builds.
  • On-Screen Virtual Buttons - Four onscreen virtual mappable buttons are now available in version 2.0.0
  • IPX Networking (Experimental) - This is a VERY experimental feature at the moment.. (it may or may not work on your device). I will continue working on this feature.
  • Turbo Cycles - Starting with release 2.0.5, the 'Turbo Cycles' feature will now give a bigger speed boost.
  • Lights Out - On devices with virtual navigation buttons (many newer phones and tablets), the nav bar will dim while playing to provide a better, more immersive experience.
  • Optional GPU Rendering - If your device supports it, you can enable GPU Rendering in the DosBox Settings to offload all graphics processing onto the GPU. (Note: Generally, this option will provide better performance on newer Devices with faster GPU's).
Known Issues:
  1. Black Screen on GPU's w/o NPOT extension (fixed in 2.0.2)
  2. TAB Key gets stuck on press (fixed in 2.0.4)
  3. White Screen and/or crashing on some 3D games that use FPU such as Terminal Velocity, Quake & Half-Life (fixed in 2.0.4)
  4. Cycle Rate switching to a low value on Launch (fixed in 2.0.1)
