I brought a La Germania 90cm 6 burner gas oven. I replaced the gas jets as per the instructions for ULPG but the oven was 175 degrees C on gas setting 1. So I now have replaced the oven jet to a.92 mm jet and the oven sits on 135 degree C in the middle. This solved the only issue I have had with this oven. Door dose not get hot but the.
I am surprised at the number of negative comments. I bought mine (5 burner, wide stove/oven, dual gas) in 2009 and it is only now that the ignition/electrics have had a problem. Hobs and oven work fine but light, fan and ignition have gone - after almost 10 years. Can't fault it otherwise.
I purchased this oven end of Nov 17 from Good Guys. The oven inner door exploded Christmas day the same year. We went into the shop and were told we would have to wait for the manufacturers to send out one of their service engineers. We therefore had no oven over Christmas and New Year.
Eventually an engineer rang us and said they would come and replace the door, even though I had told the Good Guys that under no circumstances did we want a repair or a replacement - we wanted a full refund. The manufacturers (Bertazzoni) said that they it was not their policy to offer refunds???? Eventually after a lot of going backwards and forwards - they agreed to give us a refund. We were told we would get a refund into our bank account after the oven was collected. The oven was collected around 11th January. Was told it would take 3-5 working days for money to go into account. Money did not appear.
I rang and was then told that their accounts department send it to another accounts department (???) and they only do payment processing at end or beginning of month (they were not able to elaborate further). So today being end/beginning of month and still no sign of our refund I have contacted them again only to be told now that the money will not now be paid into my account but a cheque will be sent out in the post? Apparently they have changed their payment system. Again they are not able to tell me when I am likely to get the cheque.
I have in the meantime had to purchase a new oven and am $2500 down because Bertazzoni have not paid me my money back - even though they have had their oven back. Am so upset and angry about it all. Would like to take this further but feel that I am just getting given the run around.
Please stay clear of Bertazzoni or La Germania products - I am not saying all of their products are faulty - just that if you do have an issue - they will not play fair.
Well this product is now heading for14 years old in our care. That has involved me replacing the bottom oven element about once every 14 months on average. So 10 times. Plus rewiring the rear of the machine as it died from heat intrusion. Read everywhere the gas ovens are terrible on these and indeed it makes sense that the top element is strong as that obviously is part of both gas and electric oven versions.
Otherwise, particularly the gas top hob area with wok has been brilliant.
Do love the look of the machine and its serviceability if you are a bit bent that way..or can access that skill. If not, stay away.
This is the Worst oven I have ever used. From the moment we bought it we have had nothing but trouble
Everything cooked in the table oven burns on the bottom. The gas oven won't start until we wedge something under the bottom cover to let the air in. Now the front gas switch has broken and I can't get a replacement. Steer clear of these stoves. Not worth the trouble. I now only after 7 years of putting up with this piece of rubbish will replace the whole thing. Really did my money
Cooks well now at least 20 yr old and never let me down yet. I now need a new door seal and the igniters could do with replacing, it after so many years of service these are not major issues.
This cooker being all stainless steel is very easy to clean, although the oven being so large takes a bit of stretching to clean the back wall. Once again no big issue. The door glass is easily removed for cleaning an if the seals are kept in good condition you won't need to remove the glass to clean the inner glass very often, about once annually is about what ours takes.
Overall a great oven. Would not be without it.
I brought a La Germania 90cm 6 burner gas oven. I replaced the gas jets as per the instructions for ULPG but the oven was 175 degrees C on gas setting 1. So I now have replaced the oven jet to a .92 mm jet and the oven sits on 135 degree C in the middle. This solved the only issue I have had with this oven. Door dose not get hot but the top dose get very hot after a few hours of use, but I expected it to be hot somewhere, it is an oven and big at that! Cooks great. no burning the cake I made and the leg of lamb and baked veggies were yum indeed. Brought as a factory second with very little damage for less than half price, so I got far more value for money than I expected. Very happy with this oven seeing I love cooking with gas!
I would give this no stars if there was an option!!
Don't waste your time looking at this brand and more importantly, your money. I don't know how this oven ever passed any safety testing if there is such a thing. Absolutely disgusted. The glass oven door gets so hot, it's a massive danger to kids. It's extremely hard to clean. Took the glass door apart to clean and it was the worst thing I did because it seems to trap more dirt now. The oven doesn't ignite straight away. The cast iron trivets have rusted and now look tacky. I really just want to throw it away and buy a new one but who can afford to do that! I will never purchase this brand again and had only wished I'd read these comments before buying. Could have saved myself a couple of grand. La Germania, you should be ashamed having your name on this dodgy product.
Crap oven - cook tops a cook top. So good there but the oven is very hard to clean as the whole door falls apart and luckily, the glass didn't smash. The seals are crap, and the double door on the oven gets crap seeping between them. Temp in the oven varies. It's just a crap oven - stay away if possible - avoid even better.
Darn good cooker and oven; had to relocate and re-align the oven thermocouple initially and had to replace it about three years ago. Apart from that the stove has had extensive use for cooking and baking, from bread to soup. Am in a remote location so must service it myself.
I have the 90cm Stove. Purchased about five years ago.
I like the size and array of the burners - not too hard to clean. My major complaint is that the oven door creaks loudly, the grill is impossible to use and smokes badly, I've only used it twice.
After just 2 years ownership, the oven door had trapped grease running down the glass front - on the inside between panels. I tried to clean it by undoing the four screws inside which appeared to be removable - the whole door came apart and fell to the floor. I managed to put it back together, but it still collects grease and looks horrible when you open the door. I mainly cook things like roasts, nothing out of the ordinary - no other oven I've owned has had this problem. The large tray supplied bows in the heat and Baking biscuits is very difficult as the right hand side burns hotter than the left. Cakes in the centre work well enough, but I have to guess the temperature as the printed information on the front panel came off long ago - there are no temperature markers.
I have learned to cope with the oven over the years but I'd never buy another La Germania oven - it's poorly designed and sealed, the racks are badly placed for baking, the quality of the oven parts below expectation. An oven should be easy to clean - despite self-cleaning inside the oven - the door should be cleanable- the door seals seem non-existent and it really heats up. Oh, and the piezo ignition won't work either - I gave up and use a stove gas lighter.
I have had the 900mm unit since 2000 and in my opinion who ever designed this has never used an oven.
The piezo electronic lighters never worked for very long. I have had them replaced twice but decided that I could buy a lot of matches for the repair costs. The oven itself has shelves that give very little option for spacing .The top shelf is not usable at all because of the close proximity to the grill.
The shelves are made from a gauge of steel that is too light to support roasts in the middle of the oven without bending.
The oven is probably too big to cook cakes successfully. When the door is opened to put cakes in so much heat is lost that the oven opens up the flame to reheat and subsequently burns the cake bases because it is on maximum.
This has proved to be true because the lower oven burner pan is bent and twisted beyond what a quality part should be. It is after all inside a very hot environment
I am now looking for a new oven as the door springs have lost their tension and the oven controls are too hot to touch without using oven gloves.
I have a La Germania oven and like others, the glass top exploded in the middle of the night. Thank goodness because if my kids had been in the kitchen the silver strips around the edge would have taken their head off.
I cannot cook anything in this oven, the thermostat doesn't work. It just the worst ever.
I have a La Germania oven purchases from Clive Peeters. This oven is over priced and under delivers. The temperature has never been consistent. I've never been able to bake cakes, etc. the glass exploded. I've had Smeg and others. The gas top has never been a problem, but the oven pitiful!!!
Have had oven for 10 years and have had problems with it since the beginning. This morning a huge explosion and the glass lid smashed. The grill element somehow warped so have never been able to grill. Baking cakes is always a flop as the thermostat doesnt seem to work properly. The numbers have come off so have no idea what the proper temperature of the oven is supposed to be. And on at least 4 occasions have had a scare whereby the gastop knobs have been accidently knocked on and have been left on all day while at work. 2 potential fires. This oven should never be on the market. i have sold my house and really want to tell the owners to get a new oven as am concerned a fire will result from the shoddy manufacture.
We purchased this for our CWA rooms and the oven is dreadful. The temperature is not constant - fluctuates over the whole oven. Cooking a roast dinner is a no go. We cannot get service - all the seller says is get a gasfitter which if they do not cook is useless. It will not even cook scones. We use it on average once or twice a month. Was on special when we purchased - now we know why. I had believed La Germania were good products.
Performance is sub-standard.
We have a 90cm gas oven and cook top. The oven is awful temperature gauge shot and we have to have it on full blast to do a roast. Burns cakes pastry on the bottom - all the dial indicators rubbed off in the first year. A really bad oven all round and I would not touch them in the future, the star rating above says it all.....
Gas top okay the rest rubbish
Have had the thermocouple replaced three times. Owned it for 3 years. Broiler in oven won't get hot enough to broil anything. Was told by technician that if I didn't use it the oven would go out! Do not buy one! You could burn money for all the good this range is.
It is my opinion that this brand of oven is more dangerous than we are led to believe. My broiler flame on full will unexpectedly go out while cooking. As I watch the flame, it actually looks like water movement or as if in a wind..blowing randomly, partially extinguishing and relighting. I nearly burned myself because I was stupid enough to try to relight it without evacuating the oven of the collected gas fumes.
One burner has never worked, and most are difficult to ignight. I use matches or lighter.
we have model number M9060 WOK...it was here in the house when we moved in. I have never been impressed with it really...hard to light at times and I can never seem to get the oven really hot even on the highest gas mark! I always thought it was because it was getting on and might need servicing et....not so sure now after reading comments here
Does anyone have difficulty with temperature control?
As for the hinges on the door etc...thankfully we've never had an issue there...but it is difficult to clean
has
Stove top can be tricky at times (like when you go to turn it really low down and it just goes out)...have to use a cover over flame (to put saucepan on) to regulate the heat that way
I like the size of the oven
tricky to light sometimes and doesn't seem to reach maximum heat inside oven
The enamel on the inside of the oven door is peeling off for the second time. The original door was replaced under warranty, but 2 years later, the emamel is flaking off into the food while cooking. 2 elements will not light, heat escapes from the oven and everything burns. Very disappointed considering the $3000 price tag.
